Wine-like complexity and depth, complemented by rich chocolate notes and a lingering jasmine floral finish. ------------------ 【ストーリー】 今回紹介するのは、コロンビアのスペシャルロットです。 ＜カフェ・グランハ・ラ・エスペランサ（CGLE）＞ CGLEは、コロンビアのスペシャルティコーヒー界を代表する生産者の一つであり、革新的かつ高品質なコーヒーづくりで国際的に高い評価を受けています。拠点はコロンビア西部のバジェ・デル・カウカ県およびカウカ県にあり、「La Esperanza」「Las Margaritas」「Cerro Azul」「Potosí」など、標高や気候の異なる複数の農園を所有しています。 CGLEは1945年に設立され、現在はエレラ家の3代目であるリゴベルト・エレラ氏を中心に運営されています。彼らはコーヒー品種や精製方法の革新に積極的で、2007年にはパナマ・ゲイシャ種をいち早くコロンビアに導入し成功させたことで注目を集めました。 また、CGLEはゲイシャ、スーダン・ルメ、マンダラ、ローリナ、シドラ、パカマラなどの希少品種の栽培を手がけており、さらに独自の交配によって開発されたハイブリッド種「CGLE-17（カトゥーラ×ゲイシャ）」など、新品種の開発にも取り組んでいます。 精製方法も幅広く、ウォッシュド、ナチュラル、ハニープロセスに加え、アナエロビックやサーマルショックなど、最新技術を活用した発酵プロセスにも積極的です。これにより、CGLEのコーヒーは明確なフレーバー特性と複雑さ、クリーンカップの高さで知られ、Cup of ExcellenceやCoffee Reviewなどの国際品評会でも多数の受賞歴があります。このような素晴らしい生産者のカップを是非お楽しみください。 【STORY】 This special release features an exceptional lot from Colombia. -CAFÉ GRANJA LA ESPERANZA (CGLE)- Café Granja La Esperanza (CGLE) is one of Colombia’s leading specialty coffee producers, internationally recognized for its innovative approach and commitment to exceptional quality. Based in the departments of Valle del Cauca and Cauca in western Colombia, CGLE operates several farms with distinct altitudes and microclimates, including La Esperanza, Las Margaritas, Cerro Azul, and Potosí. Founded in 1945, CGLE is now led by Rigoberto Herrera, the third generation of the Herrera family. The team has continuously explored new coffee varieties and innovative processing methods. In 2007, CGLE gained particular attention for being among the pioneers to successfully introduce and cultivate Panama Geisha in Colombia. CGLE cultivates a remarkable range of rare varieties, including Geisha, Sudan Rume, Mandela, Laurina, Sidra, and Pacamara. They are also involved in developing new varieties through crossbreeding, including their own hybrid, CGLE-17 (Caturra × Geisha). Their processing methods are equally diverse. Alongside traditional washed, natural, and honey processes, CGLE actively explores advanced fermentation techniques such as anaerobic fermentation and thermal shock. Through this combination of exceptional varieties, terroir, and innovative processing, CGLE coffees are known for their distinctive flavor profiles, complexity, and remarkable cup clarity. Their coffees have also received numerous accolades in international competitions and evaluations, including the Cup of Excellence and Coffee Review.
